The Rangers were up 2-0 for like 85 percent of this one after two solo home runs off the bats of Rougned Odor and Robinson Chirinos. I’ll just get this out of the way, with Mr. On Base Shin-Soo Choo hitless through seven innings, I blew it:
New plan: The Padres tie the game so Choo gets one more at-bat in the ninth and then he hits a walk-off dong.

My bad.
HOWEVER, Choo did get that extra at-bat and he singled to extend his on base streak to 39 games on the last out of the game.
Totally redeemed!
Player of the Game: Austin Bibens-Dirkx perhaps deserved a better fate after his five, sometimes tightrope dancing, shutout innings. Bibens-Dirkx has allowed just one run in his last two starts, spanning 11 2⁄3 innings, in his role as 2018 Nick Martinez. The Rangers did not reward his efforts with a win.
Up Next: The Rangers will try to recover a series win against San Diego with Mike Minor on the mound opposite LHP Clayton Richard for the Padres. First pitch of the finale from The Ballpark is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
