38-46 - Rangers take fifth straight series in Colon’s history-tying win

Texas finished off their month of June in style with Bartolo Colon tying El Presidente

MLB: Chicago White Sox at Texas Rangers Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

On a steamy night in Arlington, where the Rangers had to play an hour later to avoid making Bartolo Colon pitch in surface-of-the-sun heat, the Rangers rallied and then embarrassed Chicago to pick up another series-clinching win after beating the White Sox 13-4.

The win holds some historic significance as Colon was able to sweat through five innings and pick up career victory No. 245. 245 wins for Colon ties him with Dennis “El Presidente” Martinez for the most wins by a Latin-born hurler.

Congratulations to the enormous erotically attractive one.

Player of the Game: Robinson Chirinos has been on fire of late with producing big extra base hits. Tonight, his fourth inning, two out, bases clearing double turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead.

The double was not only the biggest hit of the night but it also allowed Colon to put himself in line for a win needing just three more outs in the next half inning, even though it was clear that he didn’t have his best stuff in the sauna that is Texas on the cusp of July.

Up Next: There’s no avoiding tomorrow afternoon’s scorcher as Texas will look to sweep Chicago with Cole Hamels set to make the start for the Rangers against RHP Reynaldo Lopez for the White Sox. First pitch in the finale is scheduled for 2:05 pm CT.
