After a quick two-game series sweep of Oakland, the Rangers close out the home stand with a four game series against the Astros.
Coming into this series, Houston has been knocked down to second place in the AL west, a game behind the Mariners.
They’ll face Gerrit Cole who has pitched at least seven innings in seven of his last 12 starts and opponents batting average of .171. On Friday, they’ll face Justin Verlander who has a 1.30 ERA in his last four starts. For the Rangers, Hamels will pitch on Thursday and Doug Fister will pitch Friday.
Saturday’s game is a national broadcast and the Rangers will have Mike Minor on the mound and face Charlie Morton who got his first loss of the season in his last start against Boston.
In the series finale, the Rangers will have Matt Moore pitching for them while facing Dallas Keuchel. Since pitching seven scoreless innings against the Rangers in mid-May, Keuchel has gone 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA. He gave up seven runs in his last start against Seattle.
