42-58 - Rougned, Rua, and Rangers survive heat, Indians to take finale 5-0

Hope you’re staying hydrated out there today

MLB: Cleveland Indians at Texas Rangers Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

Player of the Game: Rougned Odor was not only the lone Ranger to have three hits today, he was the only one with at least two hits. Additionally, Rougie drove in the first three runs of the Rangers’ five runs on the day before Ryan Rua ruined the narrative with a two-run home run in Texas’ last at-bat.

Odor, however, capped off his successful afternoon with a backbreaking solo home run in the bottom of the eighth mere moments after the Indians had wasted a bases loaded opportunity in the top of the inning. Odor also made some nice plays in the field which is something he’s been doing at an increasing rate.

Bonus PotG: Yovani Gallardo showed his Texas grit as he gutted out six innings in the worst conditions imaginable and allowed zero runs against a team that scored 16 runs the previous evening and 25 runs in this series. I don’t understand how this happened any better than you do.

Up Next: The Rangers welcome the hard charging A’s to Arlington to sweat out a series with Cole Hamels set to make his second half debut against LHP Brett Anderson for Oakland. First pitch for the opener is scheduled for 7:05 pm CT.
