No one was expecting the Rangers to beat the Astros, and they didn’t, but you have to hand it to Austin Bibens-Dirkx for going out there, taking his beating on a 100+ degree night in the middle of a dang dust storm, all while giving Texas six innings on 114 sultry pitches.
I think I sweated through a couple of shirts just watching.
Conditions like tonight’s game makes you feel pretty good about the Rangers tricking Arlington taxpayers into funding them an opulent roof even if the cost to our souls was a Guy Fieri restaurant. Only like 120 more home games to go!
Player of the Game: With two walks and two hits tonight, Shin-Soo Choo’s on base streak has now reached the point, at 43 games, where he’s beyond the halfway point to breaking Ted Williams’ all-time record. That’s...both remarkable for Choo and proof that Williams probably wasn’t human.
Up Next: Fourth of July, baby! Freedom! (Also, Mike Minor vs Gerrit Cole beginning at 6:05 pm CT.)
