Cole Hamels doesn’t even make it out of the first inning in latest loss

MLB: Texas Rangers at Detroit Tigers Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Either Cole Hamels is really, really done with being in Texas or he really, really doesn’t want to be dealt. Either way, after allowing seven runs (four earned) in 23 innings, that slide whistle sound you heard coming out of Detroit this afternoon was Hamels’ value plummeting weeks before the trade deadline.

But hey, how about that Shin-Soo Choo trade value!

Player of the Game: Choo hit a double to lead off the game which stretched his on base streak to 46 games. 46 consecutive games reaching base ties Choo with Julio Franco for most ever in a single season in franchise history.

Also, Rougned Odor hit a solo home run so there’s that...

Up Next: The Rangers close out this series in Detroit with an early Sunday affair. Austin Bibens-Dirkx will get the nod for Texas against RHP Michael Fulmer for the Tigers. First pitch from Comerica Park is scheduled for 12:10 pm CT.
