40-52 - Silent night for bats in Boston sink Rangers in 5-0 loss

The Rangers lost tonight’s game with two outs in the first inning, they just didn’t know it yet

Steve Pearce hit a two-out, two-run home run off Mike Minor in the bottom of the first inning and there you go. That was it. That was the entire game. Even though the Red Sox scored three more on a J.D. Martinez home run in the eighth, they didn’t need it as the Rangers and Red Sox played the rest of the game mostly for the sake of posterity.

Player of the Game: Cory Gearrin made his debut with Texas and pitched 1 23 innings of scoreless, hitless innings in relief of Minor. So, that’s nice.

Up Next: The Rangers and Red Sox play the second game of this series with Yovani Gallardo set to take the mound against the dreaded TBD (though probably RHP Hector Velazquez) for Boston. First pitch from Fenway Park is scheduled for 6:10 pm CT once again.
