Texas Rangers transactions: Hanser Alberto, called up yesterday, got just one day on the active roster before going on the disabled list. Alberto injured his hamstring running yesterday, and thus has been placed on the ten day disabled list. Carlos Perez has had his contract purchased and is being added to the 25 and 40 man roster. No corresponding move to open up a 40 man roster spot has been announced.
Perez is a catcher who spent some time in the majors with Texas earlier this year before being outrighted, The Rangers seemed likely to add a catcher when rosters expanded in September anyway, so I would assume he will stick around for the rest of the year.
UPDATE — To open up a spot on the 40 man roster, the Rangers have recalled pitcher Nick Gardewine and placed him on the 60 day d.l. Gardewine has been on the minor league disabled list with a forearm issue since May.
