58-74 - Giants snuff out Elvis’ candles as Rangers lose finale 3-1

Elvis Andrus is now an old man of 30 years

MLB: Texas Rangers at San Francisco Giants Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

Nostalgia washed over a picturesque afternoon in San Francisco as Derek Holland pitched a band of long remembered villains to victory in a strange uniform against his big brothers with memories of an October battle as the backdrop.

The Rangers lost the game and the series but at least Adrian Beltre looked spry and unaged in the field and Elvis Andrus gracefully ushered in an inconceivable era as the new grizzled vet.

Players of the Game: The eternally youthful Andrus has already had one of the best careers by a baseball player to have only ever worn a Rangers uniform and today he celebrated the first day he’s played baseball beyond his 20s. Fittingly, birthday boy Elvis drove in the Rangers’ lone run with an RBI double.

Up Next: The Rangers have tomorrow off before returning home to begin a series against the Dodgers beginning on Tuesday.
