Yohander Mendez hit by batted ball, pulled last night

Pitcher Yohander Mendez left his start for Round Rock last night after being hit in the arm by a batted ball

Yohander Mendez, the Texas Rangers lefthanded starting pitcher who is currently with the Round Rock Express, left last night’s game in the top of the third inning after being hit in the left arm by a ball off the bat of Memphis hitter Steven Baron. The Rangers have indicated that it is believed to be a bruise, with no fracture.

Mendez had previously been brought up to the majors and inserted into the rotation by the Rangers, but was sent back down to the minors after one start due to a late night incident in Kansas City. Mendez has been seen as a likely September call up when rosters expand on Saturday, and could be back in the rotation at some point in the final month, if this issue is not serious.
