DeShields to the d.l., Robinson recalled

The Texas Rangers have placed Delino DeShields on the 7 day concussion disabled list and have recalled Drew Robinson

Texas Rangers transactions: Delino DeShields was placed on the seven day concussion disabled list last night, the Rangers announced today. To take DeShields’ place on the active roster, the Rangers have recalled Drew Robinson.

The Rangers say DeShields, who was scratched from last night’s lineup due to a severe headache, is dealing with post-concussion syndrome. He was on the 7 day concussion disabled list in mid-July after falling and being shaken up trying to make a diving catch.

Ryan Rua was placed on the d.l. a week ago with back spasms, and once he is healthy, he would seem likely to replace Robinson on the active roster, as he is a righthanded hitter, and the lefty-swinging Robinson doesn’t fit as well as a bench piece with the predominantly-lefthanded Ranger lineup. In the meantime, Robinson gives the Rangers a bench player who can play pretty much anywhere in the field for the time being.
