50-65 - Rangers, Beltre get last laugh, Colon gets historic win

It took a few weeks, and for the Rangers to finally give him some run support, but Bartolo Colon has reached his goal of collecting win No. 246 to become the all-time wins leader in MLB history or a Latin-born pitcher.

It had to feel especially nice for Colon that the record-clinching victory came against Felix Hernandez who had essentially taken the crown from Colon for top Latin starter over the last decade.

The humongous alluring one can hang up whenever with a feeling of accomplishment now. Congrats, Bart.

Player(s) of the Game: Colon allowed back-to-back home runs in the second inning and it looked like a “here we go again” situation but he settled in nicely and eventually gave the Rangers seven innings and allowed four runs while reaping the rewards of an offense that went off on King Felix.

Additionally, Rougned Odor is angling for another AL Player of the Week award as tonight he went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and four RBIs while hitting his 8th home run of the second half which made for his 15th donger of the season.

Also, Adrian Beltre hit a home run off his frenemy Hernandez after Felix literally laughed him off the field after striking him out earlier in the game. Adrian Beltre didn’t do cartwheels between the bases on his home run trot like I would have because Felix Hernandez had perhaps the worst start of his career and Beltre is a good friend and person, unlike me.

Up Next: Tomorrow’s finale will see Yovani Gallardo take on LHP Marco Gonzales in a sweltering day game at The Ballpark in August. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 pm CT and you can catch the game exclusively on Facebook.
