With the minor league season over, we are spending some time each day on the numbers for each of the Texas Rangers minor league teams, and looking at what the prospects for those clubs did in 2018. Today, we are looking at the numbers for the hitters for the 2018 Hickory Crawdads of the low-A South Atlantic League.

Two of the Rangers’ 2017 draft picks had solid seasons for Hickory after joining the club in May — Bubba Thompson, the team’s first round pick last year, put up a .289/.344/.446 slash line while stealing 32 bases in 39 attempts and impressing with his outfield defense, while Tyreque Reed, a 7th rounder out of junior college in 2017, slashed .267/.343/.503, and show significant improvement over the final two months. Samuel Huff and Yohel Pozo shared catching duties for most of the season while also getting frequent time at DH, and they each had respectable seasons.

On the down side, Pedro Gonzalez, who came over as the player to be named later in the Jonathan Lucroy trade last year, continued to struggle to turn his tools into results, and Kole Enright battled injuries and ineffectiveness all season.
