Mike Minor is basically the last starting pitcher in the entire Texas Rangers organization and as I typed this sentence I remembered that Minor wasn’t even a starter as recently as last season. Whoops. I think I understand why the Rangers are bad.
Anyway, the Rangers won tonight thanks to their only starting pitcher pitching well and the offense plating four runs off Angels starter Jaime Barria early I feel almost specifically because Barria has started against Texas three times in his last five outings since August 19.
Player of the Game: Aside from Minor’s imperativeness, Joey Gallo visited a veritable buffet of baseball stats while going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run, and three RBIs.
Up Next: The Rangers continue this series against the Angels on Tuesday night with RHP Adrian Sampson set to make his first start with Texas. Anaheim’s starter is listed a TBD but honestly, who cares? First pitch from Anaheim is scheduled for 9:07 pm CT.
