Its mid-September, the final weeks of the season are dragging along, and we are continuing to look at the final numbers for the various Texas Rangers minor league affiliates. Today we are looking at the Rangers’ high-A affiliate, the Down East Wood Ducks of the Carolina League.
The Wood Ducks had three notable early season success stories in Jonathan Hernandez, Edgar Arredondo and C.D. Pelham, all of whom excelled to the point that they earned mid-season promotions to AA Frisco. Also passing through were rehabbing Joe Palumbo, getting reset Yohander Mendez, and promoted for his final start Tyler Phillips. Tyler Thomas, Jason Bahr and Rollie Lacy were all mid-season trade acquisitions who toiled for at least a few starts in Down East. And then you have the two star-crossed pitchers from the 2015, Michael Matuella and Jacob Lemoine...Lemoine had a nice campaign, Matuella continued to be plagued by injuries and ineffectiveness and ended up getting shut down.
