Continuing our slow stroll through the numbers for the Texas Rangers minor league affiliates this month, now that the season is over, today we look at the numbers for the hitters for the Frisco Roughriders.
And, uh...you might want to avert your eyes. Frisco went 60-80 this season, and there was a lack of quality prospects on the position player side for most of the year. Frisco had a team OPS of 692, the lowest in the Texas League.
Among the prospects who were there, it was generally rough sledding. Jose Trevino didn’t hit much, spent a little bit of time in the majors, went back down, and then had his season cut short due to shoulder surgery. Josh Morgan struggled with injuries and didn’t hit. Eliezer Alvarez, claimed on waivers, didn’t hit. Michael De Leon continued to flash a slick mitt, but didn’t hit. Scott Heineman and Hunter Cole both started the year hot, and were immediately sent up to AAA.
So not a lot to give you warm fuzzies about here...
