San Antonio Missions, Milwaukee Brewers agree to two year player development contract

The Texas Rangers will have their AAA team in either Nashville or Fresno in 2019

The Milwaukee Brewers and the San Antonio Missions have announced a two year player development contract, per Tom Haudricourt on Twitter. This means the new AAA team in San Antonio will be a Brewers affiliate at least through 2020.

The Texas Rangers were initially seen as likely to move to San Antonio from Round Rock (since their deal with Round Rock expired at the end of 2018, and the Nolan Ryan Family-controlled Express were going to go back to being a Houston affiliate once that was up), but the issues with sub-par facilities led to talk that the Rangers were less inclined to move to San Antonio.

At this point, the Washington Nationals and the Texas Rangers are both vying to be affiliated with Nashville of the PCL. Whichever team doesn’t land Nashville will end up in Fresno, which was the Houston Astros’ affiliate.
