The Rangers will face the Angels for the last time at home this week with a three game series.
Texas is coming off a much needed series win against Minnesota, ending a five game losing streak. Los Angeles just lost the last two of a four game set against Houston.
The Rangers are going with an Opener for the first game of the series. Jeffrey Springs will make the start (?) assuming that’s how it’ll show in his stats? since there isn’t an opener stat? Anyway in 10 games out of the bullpen for the Rangers, Springs has a 2.55 ERA, 1.42 WHIP. He’s given up five runs in 17.2 innings pitched.
Ariel Jurado will follow Springs open.
Matt Shoemaker will be starting for the Angels, coming off the DL which he’s been on since March 31.
Game two will feature Mike Minor and Andrew Heaney. This is Minor’s first start against the Angels since 2014 when he was in the bullpen for the Royals. This will be Heaney’s sixth start against the Rangers in his career. He’s 1-2 with a 7.88 ERA against Texas.
To close out this series, the Angels will have Jaime Barria make the start. In three starts against the Rangers this year, he’s 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA. The Rangers start is currently TBD.
