The numbers for the Rangers pitchers in the AZL

We looked at the numbers for the Rangers hitters for their rookie level complex league team in Surprise yesterday, and there were a few 2018 draft picks who jumped out as having nice professional debuts. With the Rangers not allowing most of their 2018 prep pitcher draft picks to actually pitch in game action this summer, the pitching numbers aren’t quite as interesting, but there are still a few guys of note.

Yerry Rodriguez, of course, was the pitching star of the Rangers’ AZL team, and earned a promotion to Spokane, where he continued to throw strikes and impress. 2018 11th rounder Billy Layne had an impressive debut, though as a college pick in the AZL, he was old for the level. And Leury Tejada, one of the rare 2018 prep pitchers to get on a mound in gmae action, missed bats in his limited action.
