Baseball America has released their top 100 prospect list for 2019 today, and just one Texas Rangers prospect makes the cut — Hans Crouse, who checks in at #73 on the list. This is in contrast with the Baseball Prospectus top 101 list that also came out today, which included four in the top 101, two more in the next 10, and another two prospects in the list of candidates for 2020’s list — none of whom were Crouse.
Crouse was number one on the Baseball America team list for the Rangers, and so his cracking the list isn’t a surprise. What is noteworthy is Leody Taveras and J.P. Martinez dropping out of the top 100, however. Neither had a particularly impressive 2019 campaign, but they were also ranked around the middle of the top 100 list previously, so it is a bit surprising they fell all the way out of the top 100.
