Good morning, folks...
The Texas Rangers are retiring future Hall of Famer Adrian Beltre’s number in a ceremony in June, 2019, it was announced last night.
Chris Woodward announced yesterday that Jose Leclerc will be the team’s closer in 2019, saying it was important for Leclerc to know that now and “get used to being the closer” and saying he’d rather have him for the ninth than use him in different situations.
Levi Weaver’s Sliders column talks about Adrian Beltre and Jose Leclerc, but also has quotes from Max Muncy on new manager Chris Woodward and new hitting coach Luis Ortiz (he says Ortiz is “very in-tune with the science of hitting”), and from Zach McAllister on new pitching coach Julio Rangel.
