The 2019 Top 100 prospect list for MLB.com is out, and the Texas Rangers placed three players on the list, albeit all towards the end of the list.
Hans Crouse was the top ranked Ranger on the list — the 2017 2nd rounder was ranked #85 by the folks at MLB.com. Close behind him at #88 is J.P. Martinez, the Cuban outfielder who the Rangers signed towards the end of the 2017-18 J-2 signing period. Immediately following Martinez at #89 is Cole Winn, the Rangers’ top draft pick in the 2018 draft.
To the extent there is a surprise, it is Leody Taveras not making the cut — he had been on the previous top 100 list MLB.com did, but his lackluster 2018 campaign at high-A Down East resulted in him falling out of the rankings.
