Joe Palumbo makes Keith Law’s “just missed” list

Keith Law’s list of players who just missed his top 100 list includes a Rangers pitching prospect

MLB: Texas Rangers-Media Day Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Keith Law’s prospect rankings are coming out this week, and Joe Palumbo is in today’s group of players who just missed the top 100, checking in at #105.

Palumbo, as you likely know if you read LSB at all, is one of the Texas Rangers’ more interesting player development success stories. The 24 year old was a 30th round pick in 2013, with Keith noting Palumbo was playing in a men’s baseball league in high school because his high school didn’t have a team. Palumbo appeared to be having a breakout 2017 campaign until, after three appearances, he was done for the year with Tommy John surgery. He came back strong from surgery last year, however, made it to AA, and as someone already on the 40 man roster, he likely will be in the majors at some point this season.

Palumbo is someone those of us who follow the Rangers prospects closely know about and are excited about, but I wasn’t expecting him to get serious top 100 consideration, mainly because his track record of success is limited due to the elbow surgery. So it is nice to see him get recognition by Keith for being thisclose to cracking the list.
