In Arizona Fall League action yesterday, Cole Uvila made his fourth appearance for the Surprise Saguaros, and as in his first three outings, he kept the other side off the board. Uvila threw a scoreless inning, striking out 2 and allowing no hits and no walks. He now has 11 Ks, 2 walks and 3 hits allowed in 6 IP in the Arizona Fall League. You can expect to see him in the Frisco bullpen next year.

Jax Biggers is the only other Ranger who got into the game for Surprise yesterday, going 1 for 3 with his 5th stolen base.

Also in Surprise, John Blake tweeted that the Rangers’ Instructional League team beat the Padres’ Instructional League team 10-2 yesterday in the Don Welke Classic. He mentions that Heriberto Hernandez had an inside-the-park-home-run, which is cool, but more meaningfully, he also notes that A.J. Alexy threw 3 shutout innings.

Alexy, a 21 year old righthander, came over to the Rangers in the Yu Darvish deal, and was viewed as one of the better young arms in the Rangers system after a solid 2018 campaign with Hickory. He only had 5 appearances for Down East this year, however, before being shut down for the season with a lat injury. The fact that Alexy is healthy and able to go three innings is good news, and hopefully, he’ll be full strength for the 2020 campaign.
