Outfielder Bubba Thompson and relief pitcher Cole Uvila have been named to the Arizona Fall League West All Star Team, it was announced today. They are two of the prospects from the Rangers who are on the Surprise Saguaros in the AFL.
Thompson, the Rangers’ 2017 first round draft pick, is slashing .250/.357/.417 with 3 steals in 10 games. He was assigned to the AFL after what was essentially a lost season, where Thompson missed time with a broken hamate bone and with a leg injury while struggling to produce for Down East.
Uvila, the Rangers 40th round pick in 2018, has thrown 7 scoreless innings in 5 outings for the Saguaros, with 12 Ks, 3 walks and 4 hits allowed. He is getting the opportunity to face the more advanced hitters of the AFL after a stellar season split between Hickory and Down East.
