Texas Rangers rumors: Edinson Volquez and the Texas Rangers are in talks about Volquez returning to the team for the 2020 season on a minor league deal, per the beat guys on Twitter.
Volquez, 36, was slated to be part of the Rangers rotation in 2019, but landed on the injured list after one start due to a UCL injury. He chose rest and rehab in lieu of a third Tommy John surgery, and was able to return late in the season as a reliever.
Volquez had previously said he was retiring after 2019, but apparently has changed his mind. The beats say Volquez would be a reliever in 2020 if he does return, while also providing a veteran presence that the team values.
