MLB Rumors: Travis d’Arnaud and the Atlanta Braves have agreed to a deal, per multiple reports. The free agent catcher is reportedly getting $16 million over 2 years.

d’Arnaud was considered the second best catcher on the free agent market, though that speaks volumes about how weak the catcher market is — Fangraphs has d’Arnaud as being worth 4 fWAR over the last four seasons, though with two above-average seasons before that in 2014-15. B-R has d’Arnaud at 1.7 bWAR over the last four seasons. Both bWAR and fWAR have him as around a win and a half player last year.

Kiley McDaniel predicted 2 years, $14 million for d’Arnaud over at Fangraphs, so he was pretty close. Atlanta continues to be by far the most aggressive team in signing players so far, having also signed Will Smith, Chris Martin, Darren O’Day and Nick Markakis in the past three weeks to major league deals.
