Texas Rangers transactions: Nick Goody, placed on release waivers by the Cleveland Indians last week, has been claimed on by the Rangers, it was announced today. The 28 year old righthanded reliever has five days to accept or reject the claim. If he rejects the claim, he will become a free agent.

Goody was a 6th round pick of the Yankees in 2012, and was sent to the Indians in December, 2016, for a player to be named later. Goody has a career 3.81 ERA and 4.49 FIP in 141 major league innings, and had a 3.54 ERA and 4.62 FIP last year.

Rangers pitching coach Julio Rangel was with Cleveland with Goody, and one had to think that influenced the decision to put in a claim. Goody is arbitration-eligible, and the Rangers will presumably seek to strike a deal with him that would avoid arbitration to get him to accept the claim.

The Rangers 40 man roster is now full.
