MLB Rumors: Madison Bumgarner and the Arizona Diamondbacks have reportedly agreed to terms on a 5 year, $85 million deal, per reports.

The 30 year old lefthander was at one point thought to be a top free agent this offseason, but injuries in 2017 and 2018, along with a dip in stuff prior to 2019 and an overall drop in results, dampened the enthusiasm for Bumgarner. He also logged a bunch of innings in his early 20s, and pitchers with that sort of early workload often decline quickly on their late 20s or early 30s.

Arizona was reportedly Bumgarner’s top choice, and after spending his career up to now with the San Francisco Giants, Bumgarner will be sticking around in the N.L. West.
