MLB Rumors: The Texas Rangers are still “linked” to Josh Donaldson, the free agent third baseman who is being courted by the Atlanta Braves and the Washington Nationals, among others, per Jon Heyman on Twitter. Per Heyman, the Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Minnesota Twins have also been linked to Donaldson, though the Nationals and Braves appear to be strongest on him.

Donaldson was seen as the primary fallback option for the Rangers, who are desperately seeking a third baseman, after they failed to land Anthony Rendon, their top target. However, soon after Rendon was off the board, it was reported that the Rangers appeared to be out on Donaldson.

Donaldson, 34, is reportedly seeking a four year deal, but while teams appear willing to go two or three years at $25 million per year, that fourth year at full value seems like it may be elusive. It may be that whichever team gets to 4 years and $100 million will end up with Donaldson.
