The Minnesota Twins and Marwin Gonzalez have agreed on a two year, $21 million contract, per multiple reports. Gonzalez, who turns 30 in March, is a former Rule 5 pick who spent his entire major league career with the Houston Astros, where he established himself as a versatile multi-position player.
Gonzalez, a Scott Boras client, was one of the top remaining free agents on the market. He was expected to get a longer deal for a higher AAV, and with his versatility, Minnesota seems to have made a pretty good pickup here.
Craig Kimbrel, Bryce Harper and Dallas Keuchel are the remaining “premium” free agents on the market.
