Kyle Seager, Seattle Mariners third baseman and longtime Texas Rangers nemesis, will start the season on the injured list, as he is slated to undergo surgery for a damaged tendon in his left hand. He suffered the injury Friday diving for a ball.
Seager will be out of action at least through April, though it could be longer, as there apparently won’t be a more definitive timetable for his return until after the surgery is performed. The 31 year old is coming off a down season, as he put up a .221/.273/.400 slash line for Seattle last season.
Seager’s brother, Corey Seager, the Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop, missed almost all of 2018 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
