The Texas Rangers have optioned outfielder Zack Granite to AAA Nashville, the team announced today. Granite had been expected to start the season in AAA, but the team had held off on optioning him until they knew that Joey Gallo’s groin issue wouldn’t prevent him from playing in the field by Opening Day.
In addition, the Rangers released Ben Revere, the veteran outfielder who was in camp on a minor league deal, and Chris Nunn, a pitcher signed to a minor league deal after video of him throwing got him noticed on Twitter.
Levi Weaver reported on Twitter that a number of other minor leaguers were released, the most prominent being Luke Lanphere and Yander de la O.
