The Texas Rangers have placed Rougned Odor on the 10 day injured list with a sprained knee, the team announced today. The second baseman injured his knee in warmups yesterday, the team said. To take his place on the active roster, the Rangers purchased the contract of infielder Danny Santana from AAA Nashville. To make room for Santana on the 40 man roster, Edinson Volquez was moved to the 60 day i.l.
This is a blow for Odor, who is now sidelined early for the second consecutive season. The Rangers are going to have him rest for two weeks and re-evaluate him. I’m guessing Logan Forsythe will take over as the regular second baseman, and Patrick Wisdom will be the regular first baseman, with Santana taking over utility infield duties.
