Taylor Hearn. Texas Rangers pitching prospect and current member of the Nashville Sounds staff, made his third start of the year tonight. Hearn had a somewhat successful outing, striking out 7 of the 18 batters he faced while allowing just 1 run and 2 hits. However, Hearn also walked three batters, hit a batter and had a wild pitch, and he needed 92 pitches to get through his four innings of work.
A pair of very different lefty relievers for Nashville had very divergent performances as well. C.D. Pelham has his second straight bad outing, walking all three batters he faced and throwing just 5 of 17 pitches for strikes. Soft tossing Brady Feigl, on the other hand, allowed just 2 hits in 2 shutout innings, though he allowed a pair of runners he inherited from Pelham to score.
Nashville did get home runs from Willie Calhoun, Matt Davidson and Andy Ibanez, and Calhoun also had a pair of singles.
Frisco lost to Midland this afternoon, though Charles Leblanc picked up 3 more hits, and Brendon Davis picked up a pair. Wei-Chieh Huang has a scoreless inning in relief, lowering his ERA to 1.29.
Low-A Hickory was rained out, so Chris Seise Watch is suspended for a day, but high-A Down East had a nice 8-0 win that featured a pair of home runs from Anderson Tejeda, whose OPS is up to 1110, and a single and a walk from Leody Taveras.
