Asdrubal Cabrera leaves game with calf injury

Asdrubal Cabrera was pulled after grounding out in the second inning due to a tight calf

MLB: Texas Rangers at Seattle Mariners Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Asdrubal Cabrera left tonight’s game against the Seattle Mariners with tightness in his left hamstring. Cabrera grounded out to third base for the final out of the second inning, and pulled up lame as he approached first base. He was replaced by Patrick Wisdom at third base.

No word yet on how serious the injury is, but it complicates an already dicey roster situation for the Rangers. Rougned Odor had his second rehab game for Nashville today, and appeared likely to be activated either tomorrow or Saturday, with Patrick Wisdom being sent down. However, if Cabrera isn’t healthy, he may need to go to the injured list, with Odor replacing him instead.

In addition, Taylor Hearn, making his major league debut tonight, recorded only one out. Texas has used Brett Martin for multiple innings, and as I’m typing this, has Jeffrey Springs in the game. The Rangers will likely need to call up Ariel Jurado to give them a fresh pen arm tomorrow, and he could replace Hearn.
