Tonight appears to be a bad night for the major league team, so let’s talk about some Texas Rangers minor league performances from this evening.
Emmanuel Clase pitched in relief for Frisco tonight, and needed 13 pitches to retire all 4 batters he faced in his second AA appearance. For the season, Clase has pitched 9 shutout innings, allowed 4 hits, walked 1 batter and struck out 13. Jacob Lemoine had 1.2 IP of scoreless work, lowering his ERA to a nice 0.69.
For Down East, A.J. Alexy allowed 1 unearned run in 5 innings of work, though he walked 4, while striking out 4. Demarcus Evans struck out 3 in 1.2 IP, though he gave up 2 hits, threw a wild pitch, and allowed a pair of inherited runners to score. Joe Barlow struck out 2 in a scoreless inning of work.
Ronny Henriquez started for Hickory today, and gave up a home run to the first batter he faced, but settled down after that, logging 3 IP, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 4 Ks. Dylan Bice, one of the random hardthrowing righty relievers Texas has accumulated, struck out 3 in an inning of work while throwing in the mid-90s.
As for the bats, Leody Taveras had his first home run of the season, and now has an 816 OPS. Sam Huff homered and drew his first two walks of the year, one intentional and one unintentional. And Matt Davidson, who got off to a poor start for Nashville, hit another home run tonight, and has pushed his OPS up to 812 on the year.
