Jeffrey Springs optioned, Ariel Jurado recalled

The Rangers have recalled Ariel Jurado, and have optioned Jeffrey Springs

Texas Rangers transactions: Ariel Jurado has been recalled from AAA Nashville today, giving the Rangers an extra long man for the bullpen. To clear a roster spot for him, the Rangers have optioned Jeffrey Springs to AAA Nashville.

This is the first of what is expected to be multiple roster moves today. It was expected Jurado would come up, and replace yesterday’s starter, Taylor Hearn. Hearn is not in the clubhouse and does not have a locker, per the beats, but also hasn’t been officially sent down yet.

In addition, Rougned Odor is scheduled to be activated from the disabled list today. Asdrubal Cabrera had an MRI on his calf today, and is as I type this taking batting practice, per the beats. It sounds like they are waiting to see if Cabrera can play, or needs a trip to the i.l., before activating Odor.

Springs pitched yesterday, and probably isn’t available for a day or two, but I thought Hearn and Jeanmar Gomez were the guys who would be losing their 25 man roster spots, not Springs. I expect Springs will be back once his ten days in the minors are up.
