Odor activated, Hearn to the i.l., Wisdom optioned, Huang recalled

Taylor Hearn has tightness in his elbow, so everyone can start panicking

MLB: Oakland Athletics at Texas Rangers Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

Texas Rangers transactions: Rougned Odor has, as expected, been activated from the injured list today. To make room for him on the active roster, Patrick Wisdom has been optioned.

Taylor Hearn has, unexpectedly, been placed on the 10 day i.l. with tightness in his left elbow. Wei-Huang Chieh has been recalled.

Chieh joins newly recalled Ariel Jurado in the Ranger pen, giving Texas fresh reinforcements for the weekend against Seattle. Wisdom going down suggests Asdrubal Cabrera’s calf issue shouldn’t sideline him for more than a day or two.

As for Hearn...ugh. Hopefully the elbow issue isn’t serious. We can only wait and see.

UPDATE — Per Evan Grant on Twitter, the Rangers think that Hearn’s elbow issue is “not terribly significant.” So this could mean the Rangers are making a paper move to allow them to get Huang up without waiting 10 days. Or it could mean they are wrong and he’s got a major elbow problem. We can, again, only wait and see.
