12-13 - Rangers are back below .500 after 5-4 11-inning loss to Mariners

Make it five straight the Rangers have gone without a win

MLB: Texas Rangers at Seattle Mariners Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

The Rangers have fallen into a streaky pattern not terribly coincidentally around when they’ve been playing at home or not.

Texas won three straight at the end of the season opening homestand before losing four in a row on the road. Last week, the Rangers won four in a row at home and now they’re mired in a five-game losing streak with another loss to Seattle tonight.

At least the Rangers made this one a little more suspenseful as they battled back from deficits of 3-0 and 4-2 to ultimately tie the game on a Shin-Soo Choo pinch hit, solo home run with an out in the ninth. However, they ultimately fell in extras when Logan Forsythe Logan Forsythe’d on defense again.

Texas is now 10-4 at The Ballpark and just 2-9 away from it. Hopefully the new joint will be as friendly to them or they might be in some real trouble.

Player of the Game: Birthday boy Nomar Mazara swatted a majestic two-run bomb to straight-away center field to plate a couple of runs and followed that up with a single and an RBI double to produce three of the four runs the Rangers scored.

Up Next: The Rangers and Mariners play an hour earlier on Saturday night with LHP Mike Minor set to try to break the current losing skid against Seattle and RHP Mike Leake. First pitch from T-Mobile Park Safeco Field is scheduled for 8:10 pm CT.
