Taylor Hearn shut down for 3 weeks

An MRI revealed elbow inflammation but no structural damage for Taylor Hearn

MLB: Texas Rangers at Seattle Mariners Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Taylor Hearn has elbow inflammation and will be shut down for three weeks, per the beat guys on Twitter. The good news is that the MRI did not reveal any structural damage in the elbow.

Hearn, who made his major league debut on Thursday and went on the injured list on Friday, will be on the shelf for the time being, but the fact that it isn’t anything more serious at this point means we can breathe a little easier. Hearn, along with Brock Burke, Joe Palumbo and Jonathan Hernandez, is part of the quartet of advanced pitching prospects that were anticipated, coming into the season, would be making their major league debut at some point this season. Hearn made his debut much sooner than was expected, and my guess is the team is hoping the other three won’t need to be pressed into duty at the big league level until after the All Star Break.
