2019 MLB Mock Draft: 2080 has Rangers going local

2080 Baseball has their first mock draft out for 2019, and has the Rangers grabbing a local college pitcher

2019 MLB Mock Draft: The Texas Rangers are projected to go college pitcher with their #8 overall pick in the new mock draft out from 2080 Baseball, with TCU lefthander Nick Lodolo being mocked to Texas.

Lodolo is a guy who I could see going to Texas, though this mock also has Alek Manoah and Corbin Carroll on the board, and Carroll, in particularly, seems like the type of player the Rangers would target if he’s there. Josh Jung, who we wrote up earlier today, is projected to the Angels at 15.

Lodolo was the 41st overall pick out of high school in 2016, but the Pirates, who selected him, weren’t able to sign him. He’s got a solid three pitch mix and, as with most non-elite college pitchers, is generally having mid-rotation upside with some risk that he ends up in the bullpen.
