Lefthanded pitcher John King took the mound for the Down East Wood Ducks today in what was his second outing in high-A, and he responded with one of the best starts a Ranger pitching prospect has had this season. King went 7 innings for the DEWDs, allowing one unearned run on 2 singles, walking no one and striking out 8 of the 22 hitters he faced. King threw just 71 pitches (48 for strikes) to get through those 7 innings.

For Hickory, third baseman Sherten Apostel continued his recent hot streak, getting 3 hits, including a triple, in 5 plate appearances. Melvin Novoa, who went down when Sam Huff was promoted from Down East to Hickory, was 4 for 4 with a homer.

At AA Frisco, Emmanuel Clase was touched up, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits in 1.2 IP, with 0 walks and 1 strikeout. Michael De Leon picked up 2 more hits, while Charles Leblanc registered his first home run of the season.
