The Texas Rangers announced today that outfielder Josh Hamilton and former Arlington Mayor Richard Greene will be inducted into the Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame prior to the team’s game on Saturday, August 17.
Josh Hamilton, of course, was a key member of the Rangers’ top A.L. Championship teams, and played for the Rangers from 2008-12. After the 2012 season, he left as a free agent to join the Angels on a 5 year, $125 million deal that did not go well. The Angels traded him back to Texas, where he played 50 games for the Rangers in 2015. Hamilton ended his career with a .290/.349/.516 slash line in 2017 games.
Richard Greene was Mayor of Arlington from 1987-97, and was instrumental in getting Globe Life Park built.
