Jonathan Hernandez took the mound for the Frisco Roughriders tonight, and had mixed results against the Corpus Christi Hooks. He missed bats but also allowed some runs, ultimately allowing the Hooks to plate 5 in 6 IP, striking out 6, walking 3 and allowing 7 hits.

Emmanuel Clase, meanwhile, had another problematic outing, facing 6 batters, walking 1 of them and allowing 3 hits, resulting in 2 runs that allowed the Hooks to tie the score in the bottom of the 9th.

Pitching for Hickory, Yerry Rodriguez threw 89 pitches over 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 5 hits, 2 of them home runs, along with 3 walks against 5 Ks. The Crawdad hitters had another big day, highlighted by 20 year old center fielder Miguel Aparicio’s two home runs, one of the inside the park variety, the other over the fence, raising his OPS on the year to 786. Curtis Terry also homered, Pedro Gonzalez and Frainyer Chavez had two hits games, and Matt Whatley went 4 for 4.

For Down East, righthanded reliever Joe Barlow once again shut down the opponents, throwing a scoreless inning for what is now his 14th straight outing without allowing an earned run. His ERA is down to 0.41, and one has to think he’s going to be in Frisco before too long. J.P. Martinez, who has been bad so far this year, had a quality game, with a double and a two out, three run home run in the top of the 9th to turn a likely loss into a victory. Sam Huff, meanwhile, had a single and a triple.

As for Nashville...well, Eli White was a double shy of a cycle and also had a walk and an HBP. Otherwise, we can move on from the Sounds night...
