Winning baseball games on the road has been like pulling teeth for the Texas Rangers but when they finally do get sick of looking embarrassing as visitors, they seem to explode for a whole mess of runs all at once.
After tonight’s 11-4 massacre of the Seattle Mariners, Texas has now won nine times away from The Ballpark in 27 tries. In those nine wins, they have averaged 10.1 runs per game. The lowest output by the offense in a win on the road was Friday’s four runs against the Angels.
Player of the Game: The Rangers are counting on a lot more production from Nomar Mazara and tonight he delivered by going 2-for-4 with a walk, a homer, two runs scored, and two runs batted in.
Also, Hunter Pence reached four times tonight but just writing about Pence or Joey Gallo every night in this space feels rude.
Up Next: The Rangers and Mariners will close out this series on Wednesday afternoon with LHP Drew Smyly set to face off against LHP Wade LeBlanc in the finale. First pitch from Safeco Field is scheduled for 2:40 pm CT.
