2019 MLB Mock Draft: Fangraphs has their latest mock draft out, going a full two rounds, and they have the Texas Rangers going with hitters with all three of their picks, including Lake Travis High School third baseman Brett Baty at #8.
The Fangraphs folks also mention a number of names we have heard before as being linked to Texas — Kody Hoese, Alek Manoah, Hunter Bishop and Jackson Rutledge — though, interestingly, this mock has Nick Lodolo still on the board when Texas picks. Recent mock drafts have generally had Lodolo going to the Cincinnati Reds at #7, after the consensus top 6 go in some order, and one would have to think the Rangers would be tempted if Lodolo, a lefty pitcher from TCU, were still on the board at #8.
At #41, Fangraphs has the Rangers going with Tyler Callihan, a high school third baseman from Florida, while they mock Arkansas center fielder Dominic Fletcher to Texas at 50. Callihan is a lefthanded hitter who is considered one of the better prep bats in the class, while Fletcher is a small lefthanded hitter who is kind of an odd pick at #50, as he’s a college guy who has produced but who has questions about how that will translate to the pros.
