Texas Rangers transactions: Zack Granite has been recalled from AAA Nashville, it was announced today. To make room for him on the 25 man roster, the Rangers have optioned lefthanded relief pitcher Kyle Bird.

Joey Gallo is apparently dealing with a wrist issue, and with a short bench already, Texas is bringing up Granite to give them a backup outfielder for the time being. Granite was acquired from the Twins in March for Xavier Moore and cash. He’s a quality defensive center fielder and is fast, so he has some bench utility. He has a 687 OPS in Nashville this year.

Most likely, Granite will go back down once the Rangers are sure Gallo is 100%, and another pitcher will come up.
