2019 MLB Mock Draft: Texas Rangers go college OF in Pipeline mock

MLB Pipeline’s mock draft has the Rangers going with a college hitter

Rangers v Dodgers

2019 Mock MLB Draft: The Texas Rangers are projected to take a college hitter in MLB Pipeline’s new mock draft, being projected to go with Arizona State outfielder Hunter Bishop at #8. As we noted in our writeup on BA’s mock draft that came out today, that also projected Texas to take Bishop, he’s a toolsy guy with impressive power and a chance to stick in center.

At this point there seems to be a growing consensus that Adley Rutschman will go number 1, with Bobby Witt, Jr., C.J. Abrams and Andrew Vaughn being in the next tier, and J.J. Bleday and Riley Greene being the top guys after that. With a cluster of players who appear at this point to have similar values likely to be available at #8, Texas would be in position to get creative in taking someone who will allow them to go underslot at #8, then go overslot with one of their following two picks.
