2019 MLB Mock Draft: Keith Law has the Texas Rangers going with a prep outfielder in his mock draft that he just released, projecting Seattle high schooler Corbin Carroll to go to the Rangers. Law notes that the Rangers are also rumored to be looking at underslot deals here.
Carroll was projected to go to Texas in the first mock draft Baseball America put up, and if the Rangers do opt to go with a higher ceiling high school player, rather than one of the (relatively) safer college arms, Carroll would make sense. He’s a true center fielder with good speed, and we know the Rangers do love their center fielders. He is not, however, one of the tool shed types we often associate with the Rangers — he’s considered a well-rounded player with a quality hit tool, but who has limited power potential due to his small size (he’s listed at 5’10”, 160 lbs.).
